This movie definitely my favorite movie of the year. Even 2008 still way to long to end, but I can tell this is my favorite movie of the year; and I must say…maybe for the past 2 or 3 years back, non can beat this movie from my top 10 best movie list.
Story and characters are simple, but how they can combine it become one great movie; it’s another different story. It’s about love, passion of music, believed on something beyond others imaginations and family.
Honestly I never heard the name of Kirsten Sheridan before as a director and neither I’ve seen her movies. But after August Rush, definitely she’ll be on my eyes and wait for her next movies; or perhaps I’ll start search for her previous productions.
It is about an 11 years old boy named Evan Taylor, who search for his long lost parents. He was left in an orphan’s house by his grand father, who told the mother that the child she had was dead in a car accident.
The story begun 11 years back when 2 young musicians met accidentally after their music concert. A young singer named Louis Connelly ( by Jonathan Rhys Meyers), he was a lead singer in his local band. And a young cello player named Lyla Novacek ( by Keri Russell), she was a famous and talented musician from Julliard music school in New York. They only met once and separated, but Lyla then got pregnant. In a car accident, Lyla gave birth to her son. But since her father think this child could destroy her career, he lied about his death and send her son to an orphan’s house.
11 years later, the boy began his journey to find his parents. Evan Taylor (by Freddie Highmore) then find him self special because of their both parents gift as musicians. He can hear things around in as music and rhythms. The story was very touching when his mother finally knew that he’s still alive and she searched for him anywhere. But finally, all 3 can finally meet because of a miracle.
